Plumbing in Nampa

Nampa is a ten to fifteen minute drive from our shop in Caldwell depending on where you are, which makes it one of the cities we are in almost every week. We work the older neighborhoods near downtown and Lakeview Park just as often as the newer stretches out toward Ridgecrest and the south Nampa subdivisions.

Mid-century Nampa homes are where we see the most pipe failures. Houses built from the 1940s through the 1970s often have galvanized supply lines or older copper, cast iron drains, and original main water lines running out to the meter. Galvanized fails slowly and then all at once: pressure drops, hot water runs rusty, and eventually a joint lets go inside a wall. Cast iron drains get rough inside and start catching everything that goes down them, which shows up as repeat kitchen or main line backups.

South and west Nampa are full of newer construction where the plumbing itself is fine but the water is not. Treasure Valley hard water is hardest on water heaters, and a tank that should last ten to twelve years can fail years early when it is full of scale. We do a lot of water heater replacements, softener installs and fixture swaps in those neighborhoods, plus the usual winter run of frozen hose bibs and split garage lines after a cold snap.
