Plumbing in Star

Star has changed more in the last ten years than almost any town in the valley. Where there were fields along Highway 44 there are now full subdivisions, and we spend most of our Star time in homes under fifteen years old.

New homes are not maintenance-free homes. Builder fixtures, angle stops and water heaters are chosen for cost, and hard water shortens all of their lives. A lot of our Star calls are upgrades rather than emergencies: replacing a failing builder water heater with something better, adding a softener so the next one lasts, swapping tired faucets and toilets, or installing a filtration system for drinking water.

There is still plenty of older Star, too, especially closer to the original town and out on the acreages near the river. Those bring long service lines, older shutoffs, and freeze risk in crawl spaces and outbuildings each winter.
