Gas Line Installation and Repair in the Treasure Valley

Almost everything else in a house forgives a mistake. Gas does not. A joint that is a little loose, a line that is undersized for the appliance, or flexible connector used where it should not be are problems you may not notice until something serious happens. This is licensed work for good reason, and every plumber on our crew is licensed and certified.

If you smell gas right now, stop reading. Get everyone outside. Do not flip light switches, unplug anything or use your garage door opener. Do not start a vehicle in an attached garage. New gas runs for the projects people actually want. A gas range in a kitchen that has only ever had electric. A gas dryer hookup in the laundry. A line out to a patio for a fire pit or a permanent BBQ so you stop hauling propane tanks. Gas to a garage or shop heater, which is common on Middleton, Star and Kuna acreages. Gas for a new tankless water heater, which often needs a larger line than the old tank used. Outdoor heaters, pool heaters, generators and fireplace inserts.

Sizing is the part homeowners never see and the part that matters most. Every appliance has a BTU demand, and a line has to deliver that across its whole length with everything running at once. Tapping a new appliance onto a line that was barely adequate before is how you get a tankless unit that cannot hit temperature or a range with weak burners. We calculate load and run length rather than assuming the existing pipe is good enough.

We pressure test systems to confirm and locate leaks, repair failed fittings and corroded sections, replace unsafe flexible connectors, install or replace appliance shutoff valves, cap off lines for appliances you are removing, and repair buried yard lines that have been struck or corroded.

We also do gas line inspections when you are buying or selling a home, and leak checks after remodels, earthquakes or any work where equipment has been moving near a buried line. If you have ever wondered whether that old capped line in the basement is actually safe, that is a reasonable thing to have checked.

Gas work requires permits in most Treasure Valley jurisdictions, and the requirements differ between Caldwell, Nampa, Boise, Meridian and the smaller cities. We handle the permitting and coordinate inspection as part of the job.

That protects you twice: the work gets an independent set of eyes, and the paperwork exists when you sell the house. Unpermitted gas work is a common finding in real estate inspections and it is an unpleasant surprise at closing time.
